AMAZING ANIMAL COLLECTIVE AND SEBADOH LIVE FOOTAGE FROM PITCHFORK FESTIVAL

Sebadoh and Animal Collective | 29/07/08

Image: Animal Collective

If you’ve got a few minutes free, have a look at these wonderful performances from the recent Pitchfork Festival at Chicago’s Union Park.

Here’s a stellar Animal Collective performance, blending their single ‘Fireworks’ with ‘Essplode’ illuminating the windy city’s night sky with colour and panache:

There’s also an interview with Deacon, Panda Bear and Geologist speaking about their song writing process while living across different countries as well as working on a ‘visual record’ collaborative film with Danny Perez (Director of the 'Who Could Win a Rabbit?’ video). What really comes across is just how normal, shy and funny these guys are as they talk plainly on how they go about creating their truly ameliorate music.

Sebadoh performed the whole of their seminal Bubble and Scrape album at the festival too and, if ever you needed a gentle reminder of the power Lou Barlow’s emotionally explicit plea, here’s a beautiful sole version of ‘Think (Let Tomorrow Bee)’, a stone cold hopeful n’ heartbroken gem.

If you’ve still got time on your hands’ there’s a goose-pimple inducing footage of Dirty Projectors’ playing ‘Rise Above’, the groovy menace of ‘Trem Two’ by Mission of Burma, Fleet Foxes doing ‘English House’, Public Enemy’s epic ‘Rebel Without A Pause’ and more.
